Chapter 1119: 1119 Gathered
Once they sat down for tea, the Demon Royals began their rundown on current events of the Demon Realms.
“I must say, your rapid advancement really threw off the betting pools. Most of them had times closer to a century, not to half a year from Rank Eight.
But there were a few who bet near a decade, mostly as a joke, and they’re most likely to win their respective betting pools.” Queen Victoria explained.
“I’m always happy to shatter assumptions. Have things been relatively peaceful there lately?” Wolfe asked.
“Surprisingly, yes. The Ferals have been behaving lately, the Fallen Armies haven’t attacked in months, and even the outlying Kingdoms have been calm.
A few of them recently lost their Monarchs, and that threw them into civil war as everyone fights for the position until an actual King or Queen advances again.
That should keep them for years unless an extra King advances in another region and decides to invade. That usually leads to a longer war that spreads to our territories, as the outer regions don’t have much of anything worth looting, and the soldiers will want their rewards.
Unlike our region, they’re not very stable, and many of the regions are reclaimed uninhabitable lands, which can only barely support life, and struggle to allow the residents to progress.”
Wolfe nodded. “That could be an issue. We had quite a gathering for the actual advancement.
King Leandro was there, and there were species that I didn’t even recognize. I couldn’t even place the Realm that they came from, but I did make a marker for their mana signatures, in case I see them again.”
King Memo nodded. “That happens. The advancement opens the boundaries to many other Realms that are not normally connected to this one. Sometimes you even get a visit from the space behemoths, though they don’t usually come through, just watch through the portals.
It’s considered good luck, as it leaves a bit more mana in the Realm than before you advanced. But mostly it’s the ones that your world has seen before that make the most difference, as they will come back eventually to see you.
This world has a strong advantage in that it is only connected to a small selection of worlds most of the time. The rest of them could only be connected by the intense power of a King Rank advancement.
Though, there is a chance that it was just due to your rather unique power signature that they were connected. From what Leandro said, a lot of them seemed to be quite startled to see this world at all, and had no idea what species you were.”
Wolfe smiled. “I was so distracted that I didn’t even know they had arrived until after, and I didn’t recognize most of the species. I think a lot of them were from the Lowest Planes, though.
My Mana Cores were altered there, so there was a lot more affinity to those Realms than normal.
Though some of the mana was utterly foreign to me. I’m not certain how they got connected to this world.”
The Magic King nodded eagerly. “We should study that someday. It would be quite the research topic, and it might give us a bit of enlightenment into lost magics. There are so many disciplines that have been lost to time, or which only appeared once or twice.
All of them might be incredibly commonplace in other Realms, though.
If we could find the right ones, we might be able to reintroduce things like Chronomancy, Astral Divination, Spatial Cultivation and so many others.”
The other Royals smiled as the old man went on a rant about magics that were little more than myths.
Chronomancy was still fairly well remembered as time manipulation, but Astral Divination was the power to set the future of star systems, not to see the future by looking at stars, and Spatial Cultivation integrated stars into the mana system of ascended beings, and it was a forbidden technique from the beginning of recorded time.
“Later. Within the next year or two I should have everything sorted out here, and then we will have more time to study.
We might have to study here, though. Studying unattended tends to lead to losing track of time, and my wives will have something to say about that.” Wolfe agreed.
The ancient Demon laughed. “That is true. You’ll have young children around, and likely more on the way. I wonder how long it will take before you have a hundred heirs?”
Cassie and Ella both glared at him.
“Perhaps not by the official wives.” He amended.
“How about we head down to the labs and I try to get one of these new arrays to function? It would be a huge improvement for the research areas, so we don’t need to dig out an entire mountain to have the practice space that we need.”
The Royals nodded. “If we can make a relaxation spot, it would be quite a victory. There are times that you just don’t want to leave your suite, so if you had a nice pool and sauna in the closet, it would prevent others from bothering you.”
Cassie’s eyes lit up with mischief. “A walk in closet the size of a house. Who could say no to that?”
Queen Jasmine nodded happily. “I could have my own training arena in the closet. Then I wouldn’t have to come out at all on my days off. It would be perfect. We probably shouldn’t tell Leandro, though. Who knows what he might do with that knowledge.”
Wolfe smirked. “Entire lakes and villas as brothel rooms? It would take theme rooms at his resorts to a whole new level.”
The other Royals laughed. “Yes, that sounds like exactly what he would do. I will admit that it would be quite the spectacle, but somehow it feels wrong to be using rare magic for that sort of purpose.”
He would find out soon enough anyhow. There weren’t many things that the Incubus King didn’t know, and once the maids found out, they would certainly suggest that he gets it at home so that everyone could enjoy it.
For a species that survived by competing for others affection, the Succubi were surprisingly low in jealousy and greed.
