Hearing Kent’s answer, every last one—regardless of whether they were in the audience, the contestants, or the queen herself—was left stunned.

Never in their wildest dreams did they think something as simple as raising a crystal six inches off the ground would have such an effect in ways they never knew possible.

However, they knew it was possible because Kent had proved it. This then begged the question: what else did he know that could have helped everyone?

But nobody could blame him. Kent wasn’t obligated to tell them something he knew to be true. Of course, he told them, but they didn’t pay attention. Sometimes, it wasn’t always about hearing that could make a difference.

Sometimes, seeing could also make a difference.

Lord Yael appeared to congratulate all those who had won and give them their gifts…

“Congratulations, everyone. The four trials have tested all who qualified to participate, but in the end, only five will represent the Half-Elves at the opening of the Flame Tower.

I am proud of you all. As for your gifts, please come to the palace tomorrow. The queen has a few words for you and some bonuses that will prepare you for the Flame Tower.

As for those who couldn’t make it this year, keep training because in three years, your chance will come to enter. But for now, you will each receive a Mythic Grade Ambrosia apple and a 10,000-year-old Soul Cleanse Berry.

Know that with these two treasures in your hands, your future growth will be both smooth and terrifying, so don’t waste it.”

He gave them their gifts and then looked at Kent. He gave him a slight nod before speaking, “The contestants who want their skills reviewed by Kent Madson can come to the palace tomorrow. Until then, thank you all for coming.”

The moment Lord Yael finished his words, comments began to ring out. Kent looked in a certain direction and smiled, waving at three Half-Elves.

It was Arion, Cyran, and Helyra, the three Half-Elves he had saved on his way through the Flame Valley. Those who noticed this turned, and when they saw the three Half-Elves waving back, some became jealous.

Someone like Kent is the kind of person everyone would want to associate with. And seeing the three Half-Elves wave at him, they knew Kent shared some connection with them.

To make the three Half-Elves popular, Kent gestured for them to come, and after a few hesitations, they flew toward him.

“How are you three doing? I wanted to come look for you, but I was busy with something,” Kent said, looking slightly happy.

And yes, he was happy because, while the Half-Elves accepted him as one of their own, the three could be said to be his friends.

At least he saw them as his friends.

“We are doing great,” Arion, the leader of the three, said.

“Good to hear that. Were you able to become adventurers?” Kent asked, but they shook their heads.

“What happened? Were the flame spirits too weak?”

“No. The flame spirits would be more than enough to let us qualify to become adventurers. I was wondering if you might be interested in joining our team.

We know it is too much to ask, but we saw what you can do, and we believe joining us will be good for us, even if your stay here will be just a few weeks.”

Kent smiled, hearing their request. It wasn’t unreasonable in any way. If anything, they wanted to use his help to cement their position in Elarion.

That is both brilliant and opportunistic.

However, sometimes one has to become opportunistic to achieve what one wants. Arion, Cyran, and Helyra were aware of this, and now they had made their request known.

Kent looked at them for a few seconds and nodded, “I don’t mind becoming an adventurer. I already planned on exploring this continent while I am here, so I might as well do that as an adventurer.”

The three Half-Elves smiled happily. “Then we can go to the Adventurers Guild right now and register,” Cyran proposed, and Kent nodded.

The competition was over, and everyone started leaving, so he had to go as well. He looked at Lord Yael and gave him a slight nod before walking away with the three Half-Elves.

“So those are the three friends he was talking about,” King Thalirion said, watching Kent and the three soon-to-be adventurers walk away.

“Are they adventurers?” Queen Jascia asked, but the king shook his head.

He had already asked one of his elders to raise the status of Kent’s friends when he gave them the 1,000-year-old Soul Nourishing Berrys. However, after a quick investigation, the report he received wasn’t what he expected.

He expected the people Kent called friends to be among the most impressive adventurers in Elarion, but to think they weren’t even adventurers, nor had any of them refined their cores at least three times, he was taken aback.

However, he also knew he couldn’t choose who Kent took as friends, so for now, he was the elder to keep track of them and let him know.

After everyone left, the arena was closed for the time being. More competitions would be held, some of which would reward the hardworking individuals.

Kent gave them a lot they could offer their people, so they wanted to use every last thing they had to raise their standing in the world and also uplift the standard of living in Elarion to a more acceptable level.

Kent didn’t know if they had plans on how to handle the Elves, but he would leave that to the king and queen. He had already achieved his main objective for coming to Elarion.

Now, his next objective was to strengthen his Soul Flame to Tier 7. This meant he had to return to the Flame Valley, since he could grow both his Soul Flame and Flame Resistance there.

Though growing his Flame Resistance was no longer plausible just by walking in the Flame Valley, Kent had already discovered that the cores from his kills seemed to have some effect on it. So, he planned to hunt for cores and flame spirits.
