Reborn into Naruto World with Tenseigan
Chapter 1086: Making up for the ShortcomingsAfter setting aside all other thoughts, Raijin carefully analyzed the predicament before him. He knew that mastering Lightning Chakra Mode would not be easy, given its complexity. However, he had identified the challenges he needed to overcome. While solving all the problems in the short term was impossible, addressing some key issues was imperative. The primary challenges were physical strength and the lack of oxygen intake during Cell Stimulation.
The importance of physical strength could not be overstated, as it was crucial for mastering Lightning Chakra Mode. This was one of the initial obstacles that needed to be overcome at all costs. However, compared to the Fujin Clone, the Raijin Clone’s physique was not the strongest, which was understandable since Hatake Kakashi did not possess an extraordinarily strong body. Enhancing his physical strength was complicated and could not be achieved quickly. It might take several years, and Raijin did not have that much time. He needed a quicker and more efficient method to increase his physical strength.
Other problems that needed to be addressed included the risk of cardiac arrest, hypoxia, tissue damage, and neurological damage due to prolonged exposure to Lightning Chakra.
All these problems stem from the lack of oxygen during exposure to Lightning Chakra. The difference in oxygen levels during electrocution can significantly affect the lungs and heart. An overabundance of oxygen, at the very least, can reduce the risk of arrhythmias and cardiac arrest and prevent immediate respiratory compromise.
“But how do I solve the problem of lack of oxygen?” murmured Raijin with a doubtful expression. It’s not like he can suddenly increase the concentration of oxygen in the air; such a feat isn’t possible and defies the laws of fluid mechanics.
Since it’s impossible to change the oxygen concentration in the air, the method he would have to use is to breathe in more air because more air means more oxygen. However, increasing lung capacity is a long and arduous process that requires extensive training. Raijin would have to spend years on endurance training and breathing exercises to increase his lung capacity.
Once again, Raijin doesn’t have that kind of time, so he would need to find a shortcut.
‘But what shortcut can I take?’ Raijin thought, feeling a little frustrated. He sat down on the ground, trying to rack his brain for a solution. Given his vast knowledge of the Shinobi World, Raijin felt he might be able to come up with a solution and continued to ponder, ‘Whether it’s improving physique or addressing the lack of oxygen, these problems can only be solved with some Jutsu… but the question is, which one?’
Raijin considered using the Eight Inner Gates to solve his problem, but he quickly dismissed the idea.
The Eight Inner Gates couldn’t address the lack of oxygen intake, and while they could improve his physique, the effect would only last while the Taijutsu was in use. Moreover, the violent Chakra bursts that occur when the gates are opened would make it impossible for Raijin to cloak himself in the Lightning Chakra Mode on top of the uncontrollable and violent Chakra bursts. He might be able to use the two Jutsu in conjunction for a short time, but it wouldn’t be considered true mastery of the Lightning Chakra Mode. Not to mention, the damage his body would suffer each time he used the Eight Inner Gates alongside the Lightning Chakra Mode made it an unfeasible option. Thus, he soon discarded the idea of using it and considered various Taijutsu and Iryō ninjutsu techniques, one after another, until he remembered a certain Taijutsu. “That one… might work…”
As soon as ‘that’ Jutsu came to mind, Raijin immediately got up from the ground and went to the guest house where Samsara and Tengu were resting.
Seeing Raijin leave the training ground so suddenly, Kakashi and Asuma exchanged glances and decided to follow him. Naturally, Shikamaru accompanied the two Jōnins.
Upon arriving at the guest house, Raijin hurriedly asked Samsara, “Where is Sunagakure’s Shira at the moment?”
“Sunagakure’s Shira?” Samsara mumbled as she tried to recall the person Raijin mentioned. Though curious about Raijin’s sudden interest in Shira, she didn’t question him and began the process of locating him.
During the second phase of the Joint Chūnin Promotion Exam, Raijin had instructed Samsara to memorize several Chakra signatures, including Shira’s from Sunagakure. Therefore, it didn’t take her long to recall his name and Chakra signature. Once she had recalled Samsara activated her ‘Mind’s Eye of Kagura technique,’ spreading her senses to envelop the entirety of Konohagakure and the surrounding Land of Forest, searching for that specific Chakra signature among the thousands she could sense at once.
‘It might take some time…’ thought Raijin as he sat down and patiently waited for the result. The Chakra of Sunagakure’s Shira is not particularly powerful or potent considering his situation is quite similar to that of Konohagakure’s Rock Lee so finding it among tens of thousands of people was like finding a needle in a haystack. As such, Raijin knew that it would take Samsara a lot of concentration and a considerable amount of time to identify that specific Chakra fluctuation and locate it.
While Samsara searched for Shira, Raijin used the time to swap one of the eyeballs in his eye socket with a Byakugan. Currently, both of his eyeballs were Sharingan, belonging to Uchiha Fugaku. He relied on the Sharingan to solve the problem of tunnel vision while using the Lightning Chakra Stimulation Method of the Lightning Chakra Mode. However, for the next task, he needed both the Sharingan and the Byakugan: The Sharingan for its insight and the Byakugan for its ability to see the flow of Chakra and its penetrative vision.
With that in mind, he instructed Tengu, “Make sure that no one can see inside this room for a while.”
“I understand, Raijin-sama,” Tengu replied, unfurling his crow-like wings and enlarging them to cover the entire room. Using his large wings, Tengu formed a cocoon-like structure around himself, Raijin, and Samsara, shielding them from outside perception.
“Yes, that’s good enough,” Raijin said, inspecting the cocoon-like structure from the inside. With outside perception warded off, he took out a glass capsule from a sealing scroll, containing a pair of semifinished Byakugan floating inside. This pair of Byakugan was originally from the Raijin Clone, and he was going to transplant one of them into his eye socket.
With that intention, Raijin took off his mask and revealed his face. Then, using his fingers, he plucked out one of the Sharingan from his eye socket. Although plucking out eyeballs is quite normal in this world, Raijin would never do it under normal circumstances. But desperate times call for desperate measures. He couldn’t perform a medical eye transplant surgery in such a place, so he decided to use the ‘standard’ procedure.
Even if he was using the ‘standard’ procedure, Raijin wasn’t too worried about the repercussions. Being an expert in eye transplant operations, he had enough confidence to perform the transplant without any foreseeable future problems.
Under Tengu’s watchful gaze, Raijin stored the removed Sharingan in an empty glass capsule. Then, he placed one of the Byakugan into the now-empty eye socket. After ensuring that there were no problems with his vision, he nodded with a satisfied expression and covered his face with his mask again. “All set.”
By the time the ‘standard’ procedure was completed, and Raijin had stored the glass capsules containing the Sharingan and Byakugan back inside the storage scroll, Samsara had finished locating Shira of Sunagakure. “Raijin-sama, I have found him.”
“Let’s go, then,” said Raijin. Tengu retracted his wings, and the three of them, led by Samsara, rushed to the location where Shira of Sunagakure was practicing.
