Chapter 1675: Cooking Unique Food

—–

After defeating the first of the four Nests for Aqua’s test, the group decided to rest for one to two hours, and then resume their travels. It was still pretty early today, so they decided to rest and cook up a feast to eat and recover their energies. It was well known within the inhabitants of this world that food made using magical ingredients would recover energy much faster and could even help people feel revitalized.

Therefore, as she had always done before while exploring dungeons with her friends, eating was important, taking a break whenever they finished a series of intense battles and so on, was also important. Especially because the stronger someone gets, the more energy their body is constantly burning, and fighting while unleashing flashy magic techniques is very energy consuming.

Especially for young people that are still growing such as them, therefore, eating a good filling meal can help them out rebound from their exhaustion and go for another round without many issues.

Aquarina remembers eating three or four times whenever she went to a big dungeon with Sylphy and her friends and they went through several floors, as it was very tiring, and also the best way to regain energy and mana, especially stamina to keep on moving.

“Alright, done with this!”

Aquarina nodded after she saved inside of her inventory most of the materials that could be used. She saved several whole ants, mostly the big and strong ones, while the rest had their exoskeletons extracted with their cores, with the help of Pyuku who ate everything else.

She really didn’t care about bringing hundreds of giant ants inside her shadow inventory even if it was very big now and could theoretically expand to infinity now that it was part of her own shadows.

To her, it simply was useless to bring so many, she was never going to eat them all and they were too big to just casually give gift to people, who might get creeped out by them.

Therefore, she let Pyuku clean the corpses, leaving behind the metallic exoskeletons which were very valuable, and also their Magic Cores.

The exoskeletons can get processed into ingots and sold at decent prices as strong metal imbued with fire element, which can be used to both create weapons, armor, and even magic technology, perfect metal for heating cook utensils and the like, or even for bathrooms.

Once analyzed, the metal of the exoskeletons was called “Blazing Antium”, and it seemed to be a special, unique metal that the ants grew and developed within their exoskeletons as they grew up.

Aquarina asked Agua about it while they prepared a meal.

“From what I’ve heard from mom, Giant Fire Ants feed mostly on burnt wood and also on ores,” Agua explained, as she was peeling large purple colored potato-like tubers. “They come to eat the underground ores and spirit crystals that grow beneath the soil due to the spiritual essence of the Oasis. And also burn the jungle and eat the burnt wood. They use those ashes to build their nest too, keeping it always warm.”

“So that’s how it is, they develop their exoskeleton from all the ore they eat, huh?” Wondered Aquarina. “Without a doubt the toughest was the Ant Queen, although with my Domain I still punched holes through her, I suppose that “Blazing Antium” is a decent metal but cannot really compare to higher level metals like Mithril or Orichalcum.”

“Definitely, but its properties can make for a lot of great cookware,” Agua said. “I think we’ll make good use of it, so I’ll be keeping a lot of it. You don’t mind right?”

“Of course not, most of what we got is yours, Agua, you slain over half the colony after all,” Aquarina giggled, as she finished tearing apart the legs from several ants including the big, meaty legs and scythes of the queen. “Alright, I’ll start the fire and get to smoke these! I brought some butter with me too, so we can pretend they’re lobster, hehe.”

“Aren’t the legs too big? Can we even eat that much?” Agua wondered, looking worriedly at the massive bonfire Aquarina started, where she placed the legs on top.

“It’s fine! I am sure we can eat this up in no time, don’t worry,” Aquarina giggled. “Alright, looks good enough.”

She made a huge bonfire and with several metal sticks, she placed the ant legs on top, the heat quickly stared cooking them, while their fiery red exoskeleton never burned or melted because it was made of a fire-resistant metal, the interior started to boil, cracks spreading through their metallic exoskeleton as juices began coming out.

Despite being the meat of fire-type monsters, once dead, the meat loses most of its elemental resistances, this is how dragon meat can be cooked as well.

The smell of crab, lobster, mixed with a bit of smoky scent spread through the air, as everyone gathered to see the ant legs, which they had originally found repulsive, with a lot of hunger.

“Agua, is the stew ready?” Silvia wondered.

“Not yet, it’ll take a while…” Agua said, moving around the ant meat chunks, potatoes, onion, and other ingredients inside of the stew she was preparing. “I never thought I would be making ant stew… but this meat is nothing like the ants I’m used to. It’s so fatty and white! Once cut into large chunks…!”

“I suppose the larger the creature the more appetizing it becomes,” Aquarina nodded. “Alright we can start eating the legs now, a lot of them are ready! Silvia did you finish the dipping sauces?”

“Yeah! I got spicy and sweet ones, and also another with a lot of lemon juice!” Silvia brought large bowls with dipping sauce, placing them on top of the wooden table.

“The juice’s ready too,” Justicio had gone fetch for a lot of colorful, jungle fruits, which he crushed into a delicious and colorful sweet juice.

“Nice, let’s eat then! Pyuku are you joining?” Aquarina asked.

“Burp… No… I’m so… full… I ate hundreds…” Pyuku looked gigantic as he was still digesting everything he ate. “Thanks for the offer though.”

Like that, the group of friends sat down to enjoy a meal together, while Aquarina checked her System Notifications.
