Lin Mu spent days observing the void, sometimes not blinking for an hour on end.
He sensed the flow of the wild Spatial Energy and tried to focus on sensing the Spatial Qi within the void.
Spatial Energy was essentially the raw form of Spatial Qi. It could not be absorbed directly unless one's proficiency and cultivation with Space were very high.
What Lin Mu needed was Spatial Qi, which he had been unable to utilize on his own so far. He could only rely on the ring's power to do so. It was something even the Temple Head could achieve, and thus, Lin Mu wished for it too.
After all, unless he could control it on his own, he wasn't a full-fledged Spatial Cultivator.
It was rather ironic that he had managed to form a Spatial Dao Embryo before being able to do so. He had skipped several steps in this process, and it was only possible due to the uniqueness of the Four Faceted Nebula.
It was undeniable that the ring had an influence on him, enabling this feat.
He had long since known that the ring was subtly changing his affinity with Space, an element he had none with before. But his Spatial Perception was still strong, so all he needed was time to adapt to it.
He found himself in a very complex and unique situation, one that no other Spatial cultivator had ever been in before.
Normally, a cultivator would first gain Spatial Perception, then learn to control Spatial Qi, before finally being able to birth a Spatial Dao Embryo.Lin Mu had skipped the middle step and gone straight to the third.
Xukong was a bit worried about this, but since there had been no negative effects, he merely thought that Lin Mu needed time to adjust. The Spatial Element was one of the Three Primordial Elements after all, and most cultivators took thousands of years to grasp it.
The fact that Lin Mu had come this far at his age was already a miracle.
After all, he was merely sixty-three years old at that moment. By the time he reached the Silent Lotus World, he would turn sixty-four. Though the significance of a year had started to fade for Lin Mu, as he was coming to terms with the lifespan of an immortal.
It didn't matter if it took him hundreds of years to grasp it. He would still be far ahead of his peers.
Four weeks passed like this, and they were very close to their destination. During this time, there had been little to no change in their surroundings, and the travel was extremely stable.
If one closed their eyes, they might even think they were just sitting in a carriage. The few bumps and hitches they experienced were no different from hitting a stray rock on the road.
Huu…
Lin Mu let out a breath as he closed his eyes to rest. He had been observing with Spatial Perception for a month now, and his eyes were certainly exhausted.
'This is the longest I've used them nonstop,' Lin Mu thought.
He couldn't estimate his gains from this practice, but he knew he had made progress. And even small gains were better than nothing. Besides, it wasn't often that he got an opportunity to observe the void like this.
He meditated for a while to lessen his fatigue before checking the state of his body. His immortal sense sank into his body and reached his Dantian, where he saw his ocean of Qi as well as the seas of elemental immortal Qi within it.
His Dao Embryos floated around his Nascent Soul, being nourished by the Qi ocean.
"Huh." But while he was doing this, he noticed something unexpected.
'The Four Faceted Nebula is here too?' Lin Mu was surprised, as the Four Faceted Nebula usually stayed hidden.
Due to its unique properties, it would exist within the Dantian as well as not be there, entering a different dimension. Only when Lin Mu summoned it would it appear.
But right now, he hadn't summoned it, and yet it was still there.
"Hmm…" He thought for a moment and shifted his consciousness to the Nascent Soul.
His Nascent Soul opened its eyes under his control and stood up from the surface of the Qi ocean. It flew toward the Four Faceted Nebula, which flickered and twisted endlessly, having no set form.
He observed it for a while, trying to figure out why it was present.
After a few minutes, he suddenly sensed something.
"Hang on… Why are the energy fluctuations stronger?" Lin Mu realized.
He then reached out and touched the Four Faceted Nebula, connecting with it, before sensing the increase in its energy.
"Has it been absorbing energy?" Lin Mu muttered.
He already knew that the Four Faceted Nebula passively absorbed Spatial Qi, but this was the first time he had sensed a significant change other than the time when Lin Mu had activated it.
This absorption function was linked to the Four Faceted Nebula's abilities, only one of which had been awakened by Lin Mu. It was the First Facet of Freedom: Warp, which allowed him to teleport over large distances.
It was his key to returning to the Xiaofan world, and he had been wondering when it would be sufficient for him to use it. Now, he felt like he had made some progress in that regard.
"How did it accumulate this much energy?" Lin Mu wondered.
The energy gain in this month was several times higher than what he had experienced in the last entire year, which surprised him.
He thought about the possibilities and quickly realized the most obvious reason.
'Is this perhaps because I'm in the Grand Void right now?' It seemed like the only major difference. Since this hadn't happened before in the Lesser Void, he could only infer this as the cause.
This realization opened up more possibilities for him. He began to wonder if he could utilize the Teleportation arrays in a similar way.
'I didn't expect there to be such a benefit to Cross-World Teleportation,' Lin Mu thought to himself.
