Chapter 1572: Two Months
“…Finally.”
Whoosh!
Sensing his connection with Valyr finally go back to normal, a faint smile crept up onto Ataraxia’s lips as he finally let out the breath he’d been unknowingly holding this whole time.
“Over two months…” murmured the young man to himself, briefly glancing in the direction where he could sense his original self.
“To think the guild would change so much in just that time.”
While his original self was in the inheritance recreating and reviving technology from the modern era, Ataraxia watched the Azure Coalition grow and transform into something even greater over these past couple of months.
After convening a meeting with the entire guild on its future general direction, it did not take long for the guild to shift its gears and focus on becoming more well-known as a mercenary guild.
Of course, with the massive stat boosts given by the buildings and statues their guild had, Azure Coalition’s transition into a fully-fledged mercenary guild wasn’t all difficult, with many in the forums even touting that this change would cause the guild to take a step into the limelight.
Surprisingly, it did not take long for such a change to happen, with the guild’s feats continuing to be talked about by players in the forums as time gradually passed.
From quests that were told to be difficult, to dungeons whose difficulty reached a level where even the elite of other guilds would struggle, the Azure Coalition showed a level of competency that far exceeded many guilds that were made for fun.
With that, by the time a month had passed since Valyr entered the inheritance, Ataraxia’s guild was eventually recognized by the system as a third-tier guild, finally allowing them to step onto the ranks only guilds akin to the Five Leviathans could possibly reach.
Unsurprisingly, once this achievement had begun to spread throughout the player base, the guild experienced a massive boom in its member count over the next few days, gradually stabilizing to a number that was halfway into the five digits.
Seeing as the guild now had more manpower to spare thanks to that boom, Ataraxia decided to convene yet another meeting with its members, proposing the idea of the guild becoming a mercenary and merchant guild at the same time.
Though a great portion of its members didn’t look at the idea positively, once he began to explain the benefits of splitting part of the guild’s focus towards mercantile activities, those same people who denied the notion at first changed their mind.
Especially once they heard that doing so would allow them to be paid while playing Greater Beyond.
And thus, using the beauty elixirs and the Basic Reinforcement Elixirs as the foundation of the guild’s new endeavor, the merchant division of the Azure Coalition was eventually born.
“Fortunately, the decision to form a merchant division worked out in the end,” muttered Ataraxia to himself, feeling a hint of pride at how successful it had become.
“Thanks to the earnings the merchant division made, not only have I been able to move to a better spot in the city…”
“But the guild building I talked about with Thomas and the gang is finally coming to fruition.”
While a slight grin adorned his face as he continued to dwell in his current train of thought, the young man took a brief look at what his original self was doing through the connection they had.
To no surprise, Ataraxia was taken aback once he saw how many of the Forsaken had come along with Valyr with out of the inheritance, noticing that the latter’s view was filled with the sight of them.
’Wasn’t the first batch only supposed to be a few people or something?’ thought the young man to himself, looking at the sight [Soul Entanglement] gave him with a hint of confusion.
’How the hell did it balloon this much?’
Although he knew Valyr was busy helping the Forsaken adapt to the world of Veldanyr, Ataraxia decided to ask more about the matter, still finding it absurd that the former increased the number of Forsaken that left with him by over a hundredfold.
’Say, Valyr. Weren’t you going to bring out a few of the Forsaken as part of the first batch?’ Watching Valyr direct the Forsaken to do certain tasks, Ataraxia eventually sent the young man a question after seeing the latter take a quick break.
’Ah?’ Though caught slightly off guard by his other self’s sudden questioning, Valyr quickly responded to the question with a wry chuckle. ’Well… that was the plan at first. But then…’
’But then…?’
’I ended up learning the Forsaken language,’ said Valyr to him, giving off the feeling that he was shrugging his shoulders. ’Surprisingly, that was more than enough to entice a good portion of the Forsaken to come along with me.’
’Huh…’ Taking a bit of time to wrap his head around the young man’s words, Ataraxia eventually took in a deep breath to compose himself. ’Did all of the Forsaken in the inheritance tag along with you?’
’Nope.’ Valyr shook his head, understanding what his other self wanted to know. ’I’d say the number of Forsaken that came with me this time around is around 5% of the entire total.’
’5%…’ Hearing this figure from his original self, Ataraxia was briefly left at a slight loss for words.
After all, if a thousand of the Forsaken was only 5%, then that meant the total population of Forsaken within the inheritance was around 20,000 at the very least.
Although such a number didn’t seem like a lot in the grand scheme of things, 20,000 people in the same place was already enough for a place to be considered a fledgling town!
’Your plans aside…’ After discussing a bit more about the Forsaken, as well as Valyr’s plans for them now that they were back in Veldanyr, Ataraxia decided to remind his original self of the agreement they made over a couple months ago.
’Is it possible for you to work on the armor sets I asked for?’
Valyr briefly went silent at the question.
’I can work on it…’ Though, after giving it a bit more thought, the young man eventually gave Ataraxia the response he wanted. ’However, it’ll have to wait until the Forsaken are properly settled.’
’That’s fine,’ replied Ataraxia, faintly nodding in understanding.
Though part of the reason why he decided to bring up the agreement was to make sure Valyr had not forgotten about it, the main reason why Ataraxia brought it up was the phenomenon he’d been waiting for players to experience at some point.
Specifically, players hitting the figurative ceiling.
