Chapter 815: The Humming Void

“It is done, Elder Lance. The video has spread everywhere now, and a few minutes ago, I saw Elder Mikko leading Supreme Elder Jian to the inner sect, and judging by the frown on her face, she looks pissed.”

Elder Lance smiled. “Nice work, Klint. I will reward you when I get back.”

“Safe journey back, Elder Lance.”

The connection was severed. Elder Lance sighed inwardly.

“If all this goes well, this nightmare will be over by the time I get back.” He sat back down on the edge of the ship, ready for anything.

Of course, if it were before, she would be cautious moving through some of the dangerous regions on Sonox. However, the ship he was on has mechanisms that will trigger and protect everyone should any beast dare attack them.

Kent was also seated not far from him now, talking to Princess Elowen and Princess Freya.

“Are you ladies ready to meet your big sisters and brothers?” Kent asked.

“We are. I mean, I haven’t seen my big brother and sister for a while now, so I will be thrilled to spend some time with them,” Princess Elowen said, a smile painting her face.

Now that her mother has been cured, she finally has time for herself, and so the beauty of a princess was now blossoming on her.

Princess Freya wore the same smile.

“My big brother has long ascended,” she said. “It turns out that blacksmiths are much more needed and appreciated in the high worlds than in medium worlds. As for my big sister, she is an artisan and a core disciple, so meeting her will be hard if she doesn’t come to me.”

“But knowing her, she will probably be waiting for me in the outer section.”

“I guess it is good to have siblings,” Kent smiled, feeling the emotion in the air.

“Don’t you have siblings?” Princess Elowen asked.

Kent shook his head. “Biologically, no. However, I have a few undead siblings and Regress immortals eating into my accounts every day, so I guess I have a lot of them now.”

The two princesses looked at each other and smiled. “Where are they now?”

“Who knows? They are probably somewhere out there biting off more than they can chew.” Kent laughed, drawing the attention of some disciples not far from them.

Most wanted to be in his place now. I mean, sitting between two beauties isn’t something any sane young man would reject. They were jealous of him.

Even Elder Lance kept glancing at Kent, not out of envy, but as a fellow human, he was proud to see his bloodline taking the beauties in both arms.

If only he knew Kent was merely using his human side as camouflage to mask his true nature. If he were to unleash his dragon side, things wouldn’t end well for the world he found himself loving every single day.

“Listen up, everyone, we are nearing the Humming Void. All those who don’t have the mental capacity to handle sonic attacks should move to the lower decks and lock themselves in the protected rooms.

They are designed to block the humming.”

Many disciples started moving down, not ready to have their minds messed with when they still hadn’t come to terms with how they were going to handle the entrance exams.

Kent looked at the two ladies sitting on both sides of him. “You ladies should go lock yourself up, too. Though you can handle it, which I am sure of, ignoring it will be better for you.”

“What about you?” Princess Elowen asked, slightly worried.

“I will be fine.”

In the end, only Kent and Elder Lance were left on the deck of the ship as they neared the Humming Void. Even from several miles away, he could hear the humming like soulless music seeking to devour his mind.

“What caused this?” Kent asked, walking toward Elder Lance. He turned and studied him, and sensing he wasn’t showing any discomfort, he answered.

“Long ago, a great battle happened here. From the records, I learned that a powerful music cultivator and a swordsman fought here, and the residue of the battle remains to this day.

It had created a field that haunts the mind for the next 10,000 miles.

The music from the music cultivator has evolved into a haunting sound, one that hums and penetrates the mind, breaking it from within.

It can be heard from everywhere and cannot be resisted. In a way, you let it in but never allow it to suppress the mind to the degree you can reason.

As for the sword aura, it is in the air, thick and slicing. It was what the elders wanted to use to kill you all. Unless your sword aura has reached the peak of the profound stage, staying outside of this preplanned route will be deadly.”

“Looks like there are some dangerous places in the world,” Kent said, feeling the music assault his mind.

However, as much as this humming tune would love to penetrate his brain and overwhelm his mind, Kent’s resolve was as thick as metal.

“Also, some beasts managed to brave the danger and, using the abundance of energy here, they’ve mutated beyond the limit they were meant to be.

They live in the inner section, so unless you want to die, going there is the last place even the strongest in the sect will do.”

Kent laughed. “Well, I am not crazy enough to come back here.”

However, as he spoke those words aloud, a message appeared before him prompting him to issue a different mental order.

⟦My scan has detected some Aura stones in the inner section of the Humming Void.⟧

“Good job, tower, place markers here. We will be back soon.” As a swordsman, an aura stone is something he cannot have enough of.

It is required if one wants to refine their Sword Aura in the easiest way.

It doesn’t raise one’s understanding of sword aura, but it can refine it to the point that just a mere form of it can create devastation when unleashed.

So, despite its dangers, Kent wants nothing more than to get his hands on them, and if that means going against the humming, the sword aura, or the beasts hidden within, then he will prepare and come for them.

The trip through the Humming Void was slow, meticulous, and heart-gripping. However, they slowly made their way through it, and soon, they were nearing the edge of the void.

However, when they were exiting the Humming Void, three powerful presences descended from the void, stopping 2 km from the ship.

“Inner Sect elders,” Elder Lance stood up and readied himself for anything. He never expected elders from the inner sect to appear outside the Humming Void, as if they’d been waiting for them.

This gave him a bad feeling, so instinctively, he became nervous.

“Elder Calix, Evander, and Lain, what brings you here?” Elder Lance asked the moment the ship exited the Humming Void.

“Are you Elder Lance?” Elder Calix asked, looking calmly at Elder Lance.

“Yes.”

“Good. Supreme Elder Espen sent us three to escort the disciples from Sonox. So we will take over from here.” Without even asking for permission, they moved, and the ship moved with them.

A trip that would have required another five hours to make was now being cut in half. Kent watched all this with intrigue.

‘They are strong.”
