In the canon, Sasuke’s Mangekyō Sharingan Dōjutsu—Amaterasu and Kagatsuchi—weren’t particularly impressive. Compared to abilities like Kamui, Hachiman, Nakisawame, Kotoamatsukami, Tsukuyomi, Taikyokuzu, Daikokuten, Yaoyorozu, and Amatsuhikone, they seemed fairly average. Sure, Amaterasu was good, but it didn’t hold up in the later stages of battles, barely inflicting any real damage. And as for Kagatsuchi? It just allowed Sasuke to control Amaterasu.

‘Seriously?’ Raijin thought. ‘What a waste. Couldn’t Sasuke have figured out a way to control Amaterasu on his own without Kagatsuchi? All he’d need to do is master shape transformation on the black flames.’ It would take a lot of skill, but it’s not impossible. It could definitely be learned.

‘Itachi managed to control Amaterasu, so shouldn’t Sasuke have been able to as well?’ Raijin mused.

Of course, Itachi didn’t manage to control the black flames in canon, but in this world, he had. So Raijin saw no reason why Sasuke needed a Dōjutsu like Kagatsuchi just to control Amaterasu.

Now, if Kagatsuchi had allowed Sasuke to shape-transform not just Amaterasu, but anything else as well, that would have been impressive. But limiting it to just one technique? It was a letdown.

Thinking about how underwhelming Sasuke’s Dōjutsu were in canon, Raijin couldn’t help but wonder with a hint of concern, ‘He won’t awaken such pitiful Dōjutsu here, will he?’
