Reborn into Naruto World with Tenseigan

Chapter 1110: The Opportunity that No One Had Anticipated

With Sasuke’s unrestrained use of his left Dōjutsu, Amaterasu flames quickly spread across almost the entire arena, leaving Raijin with very little space to maneuver. The destructive nature of Amaterasu, which burns through everything, is vividly demonstrated at this moment.

Although the arena lacked many combustible materials, the black flames burned more intensely with each passing second. Clods of soil, gravel on the ground, and even the ‘Four Purple Flame Formation’ that separated the arena from the stands all fell victim to the relentless black flames.

The arena now resembled a massive furnace, with Amaterasu’s powerful, all-consuming flames as its fuel. The heat waves generated by the intense fire surged upward, and within minutes, the temperature in the venue skyrocketed. Spectators, drenched in sweat, watched the battle between the young Uchiha and Raijin with a mix of awe and fear.

For a moment, they couldn’t tell whether their sweat was due to the intense heat or the sheer tension of witnessing the ferocious battle unfolding before them.

The entire venue grew eerily silent. The once-enthusiastic cheers and excited shouts from the stands had died down. In the VIP area and the waiting rooms, regardless of status or strength, everyone held their breath, their eyes fixed on the outcome of this fierce battle between two genin.

At the Arena

Raijin, whose movement was gradually restricted by the spreading black flames of Amaterasu, kept grumbling to himself, but he wasn’t too concerned about the threat. After all, in the worst-case scenario, he could just absorb the flames.

The real issue wasn’t Amaterasu—it was Sasuke’s strangely shaped Susano’o. As Raijin looked at the ghostly form, he couldn’t help but think, Since when does a Susano’o have eight legs like a spider?’

‘Forget it…’ Raijin shook his head and glanced up at the sky.

Although the ‘Four Purple Flame Formation’ was slowly being consumed by Amaterasu, it still served as a barrier, isolating the arena and acting like a chimney. Most of the heat and smoke generated by the black flames were funneled upwards, rising into the sky.

The sudden surge of heat had caused the once-clear sky to darken, gradually becoming covered by thick, looming clouds.

As Raijin raised his head to look at the clouds, Sasuke noticed his gaze. Following the same line of sight, he, too, observed the sky gradually darkening. But rather than frowning or showing surprise, a sneer spread across Sasuke’s face as he thought to himself, ‘Although I wasn’t completely sure earlier if I could use it… now with this newly awakened Dōjutsu, I’m absolutely certain.’

While Raijin couldn’t read Sasuke’s thoughts, he did notice the sneer on his face. However, Raijin pretended not to see it, continuing his cat-and-mouse game with full focus. He dodged Sasuke’s eight-legged Susano’o and the ever-spreading Amaterasu flames as if he were waiting for the right moment to strike.

“You have no secrets in front of these eyes, so just die already!” Sasuke shouted, his right eye dripping another bloody tear.

Under the urging of his right Mangekyō’s Dōjutsu, Sasuke’s Susano’o transformed once again. The form became more refined and compact as it took on a new shape. The Susano’o now had four pairs of arms, each holding a bow and arrow, adopting a bowman’s posture. At the same time, the black flames of Amaterasu that had been burning around the arena converged at the tips of the arrows, as if they had gained a life of their own.

‘What? Is he also manipulating the shape of Amaterasu? So, Sasuke’s second Dōjutsu can affect not only Susano’o but also the Amaterasu flames,’ thought Raijin, surprised. The ability to manipulate Amaterasu through Shape Transformation was clearly Kagutsuchi, but traditionally, Kagutsuchi only affected the black flames—not anything else, and certainly not Susano’o itself, which now kept shifting into unusual forms.

Raijin analyzed the situation, noting the drastic changes in Sasuke’s Susano’o—multiple arms and legs, a decrease in size, and enhanced versatility. ‘The way he’s altering Susano’o… all those arms and legs, and the shrinking form—it’s probably the result of Shape Transformation being applied to it,’ Raijin mused. Although Susano’o typically had a set structure, it was still a manifestation of chakra, and chakra, by nature, could be shaped at will by the user. ‘But performing Shape Transformation on Susano’o? That’s incredibly advanced skills… not even Shinichi, Shisui, and Itachi are capable of that… Heck, not even Tsukihi and Obito are capable of that, perhaps not even Madara… And on top of that, he’s manipulating Amaterasu too… It’s quite obvious that he didn’t have this level of control before. Which means…’

Though it was just a theory, Raijin felt confident in his deduction. ‘His other eye must be related to Shape Transformation… But unlike in the original canon, where he awakened Kagutsuchi and could only apply it to Amaterasu, here, he seems capable of affecting Susano’o as well. Or maybe… he can manipulate other things too. Interesting… So, perhaps that Dōjutsu isn’t as limited as I initially thought. Or… maybe I’m jumping to conclusions. I haven’t yet seen its full power or potential. This is still just speculation, after all, and I could be wrong.’

As for why Sasuke’s Dōjutsu was different from his canonical counterpart, the answer seemed obvious to Raijin. Under Kuroto’s ‘special care,’ Sasuke’s life experience had diverged significantly from what it should have been. His mindset and goals were different, so it made sense that his Dōjutsu had evolved differently as well. It was hardly surprising that his abilities would reflect those changes.

While Raijin was analyzing Sasuke’s dōjutsu, the young Uchiha began firing Amaterasu arrows at him. The arrows sliced through the air like lightning, rushing toward him.

‘Fast!’ Raijin thought, taken aback. He momentarily halted his analysis and activated the Lightning Chakra Stimulation Technique, zipping away from the arrows’ trajectory. However, despite his speed, the sleeve of his shirt was still grazed by one of the Amaterasu-coated arrows, and it immediately caught fire.

The black flames rapidly consumed his sleeve, threatening to spread to his entire arm. Feeling the searing heat, Raijin couldn’t help but let out a pained cry, “Aaaahhhh…”

To Sasuke, Raijin’s scream was music to his ears. Seeing Raijin’s arm engulfed in flames, he laughed maniacally, “This is it… it’s over for you! Hahahaha! Die now!” He envisioned Raijin desperately writhing in pain, begging for mercy.

But contrary to Sasuke’s expectations, Raijin did not succumb to despair. After his initial cry, he calmed himself, took a few deep breaths, and said to Sasuke, “Foolish boy… have you forgotten that if I turn to ash… these eyes will turn to ash with me too?”

“What–?” Sasuke’s sudden realization sent him into a panic. He had completely overlooked that detail and suddenly felt an urgent need to extinguish the flames in Raijin. This panic broke his concentration on the flames, giving Raijin an opening.

Seizing the opportunity, Raijin concentrated his Chakra on his left arm. Capable of emitting Chakra from all his Tenketsu, he quickly formed a visible layer of Chakra over his left hand, creating a barrier between his skin and the encroaching black flames.

With a swift motion, the layer of Chakra moved according to Raijin’s will, pushing back the black flames. As he removed the fire from his hand, it shed away like a snake sloughing off its skin, falling to the ground along with the black flames.

The entire process of creating a protective layer of Chakra and then shedding it was extraordinarily smooth and completed in less than a second so much so that Sasuke was completely takenaback!

“This…?!” Sasuke’s face froze, and his expression twisted with disbelief as he watched Raijin deal with Amaterasu in such an unexpected manner.

Raijin examined his arm, noting, “Hmm… it seems these flames will leave a scar.” A clear burn mark marred his skin, but he shrugged it off, grinning at Sasuke with a mocking tone. “You don’t seriously think those black flames make you invincible, do you?”

In truth, Raijin’s method for countering Amaterasu wasn’t entirely his original idea. In the canon, Naruto had used a similar technique to handle the black flames, employing the Nine-Tails’ Chakra Coat. However, Raijin had utilized his own Chakra, which had cost him at least one-third of his reserves. If it weren’t for his considerable Chakra reserves, pulling off such a stunt would have been challenging.

‘But then again, I could have drawn some Chakra from the Giant Tenseigan resting in Ancor Vantian…’ Raijin thought, shaking his head.

Regardless, such a technique was not something most ninjas could execute casually. Many would have to sacrifice their arm to avoid being turned to ash.

“You guy…” Sasuke was still lost in thought, reeling from how effortlessly Raijin had dealt with his attack when a thunderous roar echoed in the sky.

Rumble!

The sound not only jolted Sasuke back to reality but also captured the attention of all the spectators, who suddenly noticed that dark clouds had gathered overhead.

On the referee’s bench.

Kakashi looked up at the sky and murmured to himself, “It’s the setup for that same jutsu… Sasuke’s success rate is less than five percent. I don’t know if he’ll be able to pull it off.”

Itachi, standing nearby, stared at the arena with his gaze fixed on Raijin. The way Raijin had dealt with Amaterasu surprised even him. A moment later, his lips curved into a smile. ‘He is indeed a member of the organization…’

At the arena

Sasuke looked up at the dark clouds in the sky, a cold expression on his face. ‘You really want to use this jutsu against me? Raijin, you’re going to miscalculate. When thunder strikes, you’ll be buried! I’ve trained for this jutsu as well…’

During his training with Kakashi, his success rate had been only five percent, but now Sasuke was confident he could pull it off without a problem. ‘Maintaining the shape of the jutsu as it charges from the heavens and strikes the earth is no longer an issue…’ He held his right hand over his eye. With the enhanced vision of the Mangekyō Sharingan, he could better calculate the speed and trajectory needed to ensure success.

Confident in his ability, Sasuke had already devised a plan. Just before Raijin attempted to pull the lightning from the clouds, Sasuke would fire his own Lightning Chakra into the clouds, wrapping it around the natural lightning to give it shape. Then, right before Raijin tried to strike with his jutsu, he would unleash Kirin.

That’s right; after mastering Purple Lightning, Sasuke had been training with Kakashi to pull off Kirin. Kakashi had seen Darui and Raijin use their chakra to shape the lightning in the clouds offensively during the second phase of the Joint Chūnin Promotion exam. When Kakashi relayed that idea to Sasuke, the young Uchiha was intrigued and worked hard to replicate it as a surprise trump card.

Although he hadn’t achieved the hundred percent success rate he had hoped for, now that he had awakened the Mangekyō, Sasuke felt confident. The thought of giving Raijin a taste of his own jutsu made him grin.

But just when many, including Sasuke, believed Raijin would take advantage of the dark clouds overhead, Raijin grinned, thinking to himself, ‘It’s finally here…’ The opportunity he had been waiting for arrived as Sasuke suddenly covered his eyes, groaning in pain. “Aaahhhh…!”

Sasuke couldn’t comprehend what was happening; his eyes began to hurt as if countless sharp needles were poking into them, and he found it impossible to resist. As he howled in agony, the bizarre-shaped Susano’o enveloping him began to degenerate and fade. It transformed from a skull form with several arms and legs holding bows and arrows to a rib cage. Moments later, even the rib cage began to dissipate, making it difficult for Sasuke to maintain it.

Just as the rib cage vanished, the ground behind Sasuke exploded. A figure with a hand crackling with white lightning emerged, piercing through Sasuke’s chest. Zzz…
